Nine companies in the ICT sector in Galicia receive the CMMI certification, which have only 2,500 companies around the world2 Mares, Aldaba, Altia, Bahia Software, Igalia, Imaxin|Software, Lambda Stream, Satdata, Shylex and the institutions CESGA and the IIT (Instituto de Investigaciones Tecnológicas) of the University of Santiago.

Galicia appears as international reference in the quality of software with this project, co-financed by the spanish Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade, in collaboration with the Supercomputing Center of Galicia (CESGA) as coordinator, and created within the platform of Vindeira of the Ministry of Economy and Industry of Galicia.

The nine organizations received the diploma from the hands of D. Ricardo Capilla, Director General for Research, Development and Innovation of the Xunta of Galicia, in an act which took place the June 17 at the headquarters of the Caixa Galicia Foundation in Santiago.

The goal of the CMMI model (Capability Maturity Model Integration), developed by the SEI (Software Engineering from the Carnegie Mellon University in the United States) is to unify the processes of software through the application of best practices and innovation in the field of engineering software. Thus, a new common common language is established between companies enabling them to be more competitive, to develop software with partners and to facilitate the search for other partners and customers all over the world, which require their suppliers to have implemented these models to ensure quality service.

In words of Enrique de Miguel Ilarri, spokesman for the group: "The project Vindeira: technological excellence is an ambitious initiative with a major impact on the ICT sector in Galicia, which seeks to encourage the improvement of competitiveness of enterprises with the aim to build a consolidated industry sector in Galicia. To get this goal, we guide our efforts to create technology products with an international vocation, which is bearing fruit, to place the ICT industry in Galicia as a recognized reference at European level."

This project was started in 2007, with cofinancing from the spanish Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade through the program PROFIT and also included the collaboration of the Department of Economy and Industry of the Xunta de Galicia through the platform Vindeira.

For its part, the French multinational corporation based in Spain, Sopra PROFIT SA, member of the SEI-reference entity to develop and maintain accreditation CMMI ® - was responsible for the accreditation process and the consulting of the group of Galician companies.
